Best Home Workout Bike – No Gym Needed

It’s been a long day. Your boss had you doing extra work and you spilled coffee all over your car’s dashboard. You get home from work at 5:30 and you still have to go to the gym. You don’t want to miss a workout because you bet your friend you can lose 10 pounds in 2 months. You live about 30 minutes from the gym and, in this moment, you are really regretting that bet.

You end up skipping the gym and take a nap instead.

Bad days happen to all of us. Some days the motivation is just not there to get a workout in. That’s why owning home workout equipment, like a workout bike, can be very beneficial. For days you don’t feel like traveling or days you just simply don’t have time, home workout equipment can prove to be a worthwhile investment.

Throughout this article, I will be sharing what I believe to be the best workout bike on the market and explain how it can assist you in your fitness journey, whether you are trying to lose weight, get ripped or stay in shape.

The Bike

The home workout bike I am referring to is called the CAROL Bike. The CAROL Bike is a “smart bike” powered by AI that adapts to your fitness level and provides workouts for you automatically.

CAROL Bike

Here are some of its attributes:

  1. AI powered
  2. Computer controlled brakes
  3. Silent belt drive
  4. Sensors for RPM and resistance level
  5. Certified highest accuracy power
  6. Hand heart rate monitor
  7. Personalized and optimized workouts custom-made automatically

How it Works

The CAROL Bike is powered by an AI system named, you guessed it, CAROL. This AI software figures out and adapts to your abilities as you use it. It automatically adjusts its settings to give you the best workout depending on your current level of fitness. Meaning, as you train consistently, your workout sessions will get harder and if you decide to take a break from CAROL and lose some of that progress, it will regress the difficulty.

The optimized workout time for a CAROL Bike workout session is about 8 minutes and 40 seconds 3 times a week. The sessions consist of two 20 second sprint intervals surrounded by warm up, cool down and recovery intervals. Being that the sessions are so short, this bike was made for those who live a busy lifestyle and those who don’t have the time to workout 45-60 minutes a day.

The CAROL Bike also offers various different workouts for many goals like weight loss, endurance, and strength.

Science behind the CAROL Bike

The CAROL Bike is backed by scientists and built by doctors. If you don’t believe me, check out their website and you can read the research papers yourself. In one of these research papers, a study conducted by the American Council on Exercise, found that the CAROL Bike was able to lower metabolic disease risk by 62%, increase cardiovascular and lung health by 12%, reduce blood pressure by 5% and much more after just 8 weeks.

The bike aims to give its riders the most efficient workout in the shortest amount of time possible. To do this, it utilizes two strategies: one called reduced exertion high-intensity training (REHIT) and the other called rapid glycogen depletion. REHIT is similar to High-intensity interval training (HIIT) because they both have intervals of high intensity and intervals of low intensity throughout the duration of their workouts. The difference between the two is that REHIT is geared more toward short bursts of maximum output followed by just enough time to recover and repeating the process, while HIIT requires longer intervals of medium output and longer recovery periods.

REHIT makes for shorter and more efficient workouts that offer just as much or more benefit than HIIT workouts.

The CAROL Bike’s second strategy for efficiency is rapid glycogen depletion which helps to speed up weight loss and improve strength. Glycogen is sugar stored in your muscles. This sugar is only converted into energy if the body absolutely needs it, like when it is in a life or death situation. The CAROL Bike accurately targets the body’s fight or flight response and forces it to tap into these glycogen reserves which effectively enhances aerobic ability and in turn, leads to better fitness.

Competition

The CAROL Bike’s top competition consists of the Peloton Bike and the NordicTracks Bike. These are two high-quality and well respected bikes in the fitness industry. Each having their own advantages and disadvantages just like the CAROL Bike.

One of the main reasons why I believe that the CAROL Bike is ahead of its competition is because it is the only one that is used for professional use. This means that professionals and lead fitness experts choose CAROL over all other bikes.

The CAROL Bike is also the only workout bike that offers reduced exertion high-intensity training (REHIT). This training is what gives you the ability to hop on the bike for just 8-10 minutes and feel like you went on a 5-mile run. For someone that is very busy or likes to spend their time doing other things besides working out, REHIT is a huge advantage that the CAROL Bike offers over its competition.

The only thing, in my opinion, that could make the CAROL Bike less attractive is its price. The CAROL Bike goes for about $2,395 on its website. This is a similar price to the Peloton Bike which goes for about $2,495. Both of these bikes, however, are more expensive than the NordicTracks Bike which goes for just under $2,000.

Overall, customers rated the CAROL Bike the highest out of the three with a 4.6 rating out of 5.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the CAROL Bike is a great investment to make if you don’t want to pay a monthly membership at the gym, if you live a busy lifestyle, or if you enjoy working out in the comfortable surroundings of your own home. In my opinion, it offers the most value for your money with its science and doctor backed technology, automatic personalization software, and time-saving efficiency.

Compared to its competitors, it triumphs in every category besides price including built-in features, available workouts, and customer feedback.

  2. I really enjoyed reading about the Carol bike as I saw a documentary by Michael Mosley recently and they showed the science behind the 20-second sprint intervals and the results were amazing. It gave me a whole new outlook on not having to train for 45 minutes to get decent results. I love that the Carol bike is geared to this type of workout and that it will tailor your training sessions to your fitness level. It also looks like a compact bike that won’t take up a huge amount of space at home. Definitely, the way of future exercise and the price is cheaper than gym memberships that you never use. Are the bikes unisex?
